About Writing (or Anything Else for that Matter)
Published: June 8, 2012
I often get emails asking for individual help in getting started as an online writer. Usually, the email starts out tentative because the sender isn’t quite sure if I’ll respond or not (I usually try to respond unless emails get buried in my inbox).
Next, the person goes through a laundry list of non-qualifications such as:
The non-qualification list is followed by a laundry list of situations which is a self-justification for why their journey will be exceptionally difficult such as:
Then it is usually concludes with a “What did you do?” or “Tell me what to do” or “Steer me in the right direction” conclusion.
I don’t want this post to be taken the wrong way, but we all have disabilities and unfair situations that can stop us from being successful. The biggest disability that I’ve found, however, is the philosophical disability. This is the inability to think “can” instead of “can’t.”
The old saying, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right” is absolutely true. If you think your lack of a degree, experience, poor health or pain will stop you from accomplishing your goal, then it will.
As far as writing goes, most folks find me because of my No Job for Mom blog that has several hundred posts on what I did to make money as an online writer. I also wrote 2 free ebooks, which provide more information on what I did to make money online. There’s nothing more for me to tell. I told it all.
It’s Up to You
The information is there. It’s up to you to take action.
I’ve learned anything standing between me and my goal is either an excuse or an obstacle. If I really want something, I’ve got to ditch the excuses and overcome the obstacles.
That statement sounds rather black and white in this gray world, but the bottom line is either you’re going to do it or talk about doing it. Me? Well, I’d rather do it and then share how I did it. That’s precisely the reason why I prefer to follow Pudding Blogs.
