[How Not to Negotiate]
The Beginning of My Plus (+) Journey
Published: May 15, 2013
In retrospect, my plus journey started back in 2006. At the time I didn't know I was starting a (+) Plus journey. Prior to that, I had been working a traditional 9-5 job. My job relocated several states away and I didn’t relocate with it.
Instead of looking for a full-time job, I tried local part-time jobs but that wasn't enough to pay the bills. Since my last full-time job was that of a technical writer I decided to try my hand at freelance writing. I didn't want another 9 to 5 job. I liked the freedom of being able to write when I wanted and where I wanted.
A Long and Bumpy Road
My freelance writing journey was/is a long and bumpy one. The one valuable lesson learned during my writing journey was I could accomplish just about anything if I really put my mind to it (this is true for anyone, not just me). Achieving the goal is not easy but with persistence, determination and the willingness to make mistakes and learn from them, anything is possible.
Bottom line, my years as a freelance writer have taken me on the road less traveled. It is my belief that people on the (+) plus journey won't find their answers or their calling traveling on the commonly traveled roads. Their answers are usually found off the beaten path.
As you read this, I hope this inspires you to start or to venture deeper into your Plus journey.
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because[a] narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. [NKJV: Matthew 7:13-14]
This is one of several posts that came from a blog that I decided to discontinue. Instead of letting all of the content go into oblivion, I decided to capture it here.
